This was an expansion of the existing Najran Central Power Station, based on two GE Frame -7EA gas turbine generator units (around 60 MW site rating each), operating on crude oil as primary fuel and distillate oil as start-up, shut-down and back-up fuel. Major balance of plant equipment included crude oil tanks, fuel treatment, handling & forwarding systems, water treatment systems, plant heating-ventilation-air-conditioning and firefighting systems. The scope of the project also included a dedicated distributed control system for the plant controls. The installation and commissioning of the first unit was completed in a span of 3 months.
